In the fall of 2003, Richard and Antoinette Ledzian spontaneously attended a job fair
where they first met Susan Epstein who was presenting a coaching seminar.
Artists and Writers always need inspiration!
A
desire to write a book for children, suffering loss, became the main focus, while Antoinette and Susan met weekly at a Marriott
Starbucks to compose this story.
A field trip to nearby Ocean Beach in New London,
CT, provided the cover design and main theme which runs throughout, after Antoinette serendipitously found a colorful painter's cloth
in a trash can on the boardwalk! Susan's cat, Quatro, who had lost his meow, was an inspiration for the title.
In the next 4 years, the story and illustrations went through many transformations before meOW
became a reality. Richard drew the pen and ink sketches while Antoinette painted the illustrations, created additional
graphics, drawings, designed and typeset the contents of this one-of-a-kind tale. Susan coached, edited and, along with
her husband, Michael, and family, redefined the word "patience."
The
final shepherding of this collaborative enterprise fell into the hands of three remarkable men in the design/printing field
. . . thanks from the depths of the ocean to Bruce Campbell, David Lorczak, and Kit Prewett who helped to pull and pull and
pullllllllllllllll!
